Josef Martinez puts Atlanta United in the quarterfinals
The MLS team led by Frank de Boer, rallied the series against Herediano of Costa Rica with two goals from Josef Martinez and will face Monterrey in the next round.
Atlanta United arrived at tonight's game with a score against of 3-1, even though the MLS team had a difficult task in front of them, the team led by Frank de Boer had the firm conviction to turn things in their favor to reach the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions League.
Josef Mart¨ªnez needed only 47 seconds into the game to score the first goal of the night to lift the feelings of his team and get them closer to their purpose.
After that things seemed to be in favor of Atlanta with Julian Gressel leveling the aggregate for the star & stripes team that got the advantage on away goals.
Josef was not done, and while the clock marked the 63rd minute with a tap in from Shea cross, got his second goal to put the game 3-0 in favor of Atlanta.
From there, things were practically over for Herediano though they keep trying to find some space to get that one goal that will bring them back to the game.
But Gonz¨¢lez Pirez scored the last and 4th goal for Atlanta to the win with a 5-3 on aggregate and will face Monterrey in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions League.
