The willingness of Melania Trump in becoming one of the most politically influential women in the world, as the United States First Lady, has always been questioned since her family occupied the White House. Now, well-known documentary creator Louis Theroux wants to answer that mystery through a film.
While promoting for his latest documentary on mothers struggling with postpartum mental health issues titled “Mothers on the Edge,” Theroux discussed what other topics he finds interesting and worthy of making into a film — these include Mrs. Trump. In his words, FLOTUS could be feeling like a “prisoner” under the assumption that she did not expect to be in this official position when she married U.S. President Donald Trump over a decade ago.
Theroux explained that he would approach this project, if it ever happens for real, under the premise that Mrs. Trump had possibly envisioned a very different future with Mr. Trump compared to what they have now. “Did she just think she was marrying a billionaire, who she thought was perhaps quite funny, and interesting,” Theroux told the Press Association (via Independent).
“And then now, she’s a prisoner of – I mean, I’m speaking hypothetically because we don’t really know, do we – but she’s a metaphorical prisoner of that lifestyle,” Theroux added. While this could be a very interesting subject for a documentary film, there is no assurance that Mrs. Trump would entertain the idea.
The talked-about New York magazine piece by Michael Wolff previously claimed that the Trumps were not actually planning on winning the 2016 election. Mrs. Trump was allegedly one of the people looking forward to that outcome. So when they won, the now-First Lady reportedly started crying out of huge disappointment.
Since then, critics have painted a picture that Mrs. Trump is not totally on board of doing her official duties. However, her camp has since dismissed this claim. FLOTUS communications director Stephanie Grisham previously said, “Mrs. Trump supported her husband's decision to run for president and in fact, encouraged him to do so. She was confident he would win and was very happy when he did.”
